Mediation is a word that has been around for centuries, but it still remains one of the most misunderstood concepts in modern society. Many people associate mediation with religion and think of it as a spiritual practice. That’s not quite right, though! The truth is, meditation can be done by anyone at any time and doesn’t have to be connected to spirituality at all. In this blog post, we’ll talk about what mediation actually means and how you can do it on your own quickly.

 

What Is Meditation

Meditation is not some mystical practice that only the initiated can take part in. No formal training or goals are required, and you don’t need any supplies to make it happen.

 

All you need is a quiet space for yourself away from the noise of school, work, or family. This may be hard for you to find, but there are ways around that too.

 

Mediation is a quick and easy way to focus your mind and calm your anxieties. It can help you sort through the chaos of everyday life to pick out what really matters and to let go of the rest. There’s a reason that it is used to help support children and adults with Attention Deficit Disorder.

 

Let’s Get Started

Now that you’ve got a good idea of what mediation is let’s look at how to do it on your own quickly.

 

1. Finding A Quiet Place

The first step in getting started with meditation is finding somewhere quiet and comfortable where you can sit for about ten minutes. You don’t need anything special here, just a place where you won’t get disturbed. Maybe the school library after it’s closed, or even your bedroom if that is available to you.

 

2. Getting Comfortable

There is no one position that you have to meditate in, even though you most likely have seen most people do it cross-legged on the floor with their back straight. You can really meditate anywhere comfortable for you, like lying on the couch or in your bed. A position can be helpful because it tricks your body into relaxing every time you assume that pose. And some facilitate deep breathing.

 

3. Remove All Distractions

The last thing you want is to get comfortable, close your eyes, and then realize you have to use the bathroom. So being prepared to meditate before you start will make the process ten times easier.

 

4. Keep Your Eyes Closed

You can meditate with your eyes open, but it makes things so much easier to keep them closed. Especially if you are using a guided manifestation. 

 

5. Start With 2-3 Minutes Of Meditation Each Day

This is an excellent place to start if you’ve never meditated before. Of course, you can always go for longer, but it’s better to push yourself too little than too much when you first begin.

If the whole concept of meditation seems like something that isn’t worth your time, remember this: The benefits will come with consistent use and time.

You’ll find that it is easy to fit into your schedule and provides you with many benefits. It’s like brushing your teeth, but for the mind!

 

6. Focus On Taking Deep Breaths

Your breath is something that you can always control. By breathing deeply, your body will relax, and it’ll be easier to meditate.

 

7. Let Your Thoughts Come And Go Without Dwelling On Them

It is a misconception that you have to completely clear your mind to meditate. In fact, thoughts are going to come into your head constantly. Just let them pass through like clouds in the sky!

 

8. Try Meditating In Nature

Meditating outside can be a great way to connect with the nature around you and get rid of any stress. Plus, it puts things into perspective for you. In addition, there are prevent scientific benefits to spending time in nature. So why not give it a try?

 

9. Use Guided Meditations

Guided meditation is a recording that walks you through the process of meditating. You can use anything from an audiobook to some relaxing music on YouTube, and it will help get your mind in the right place for meditation.

10.   Be Easy On Yourself

This is a process that takes time. So don’t beat yourself up if you can only manage two minutes at first! Just stay consistent with it and things will get easier over time.

Meditate every day if you can! The more you do it, the easier it will be to get into a routine and find that time in your day. And you’ll start to notice all of the benefits!
